Hardware and Rock POS

Rock POS connects with hardware that help you run your business fast, smoothly and professionally. The most common hardware that you may use are barcode scanner, receipt printer, cash drawer and credit card reader. 

Display devices

Being a web-based module, Rock POS can display and work on any device with a good internet connection, which may include:

  • Laptop (HP, Lenovo, Asus, MacBook, etc)
  • PC/Workstation
  • Tablet (iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab, etc)
  • Other Specialized Point-of-sale displays (NEC)

Barcode scanner

From Back Office, you can use a barcode scanner to add barcodes for products. Then from Front Office, use it to search for a product. The same as Rock POS, you can use a barcode scanner to add products/customers to the cart automatically and right after your scanner recognizes barcodes. 

Some kinds of barcode scanners recommended by our customers:

  • Honeywell Barcode scanners
  • Zebex Barcode scanners (Z-3100)
  • Other types of Barcode scanners that have the USB connector

Receipt printers

There are 2 types of receipts:

– Receipts are PDF files: Use any printer to print

Some printers to print PDF files:

  • HP OfficeJet series
  • Canon LBP series
  • And more

– Receipts are printed as soon as an order is checked out successfully: Use a printer supporting QZ Tray.

Some thermal printers are recommended by our customers;

  • EPSON TM – series
  • Zebra Thermal printers
  • Citizen Thermal printers
  • Star Thermal printers (100 series, 600 series, etc)
  • Boca Thermal printers
  • Antech Thermal printers (AP-250)
  • Dymo Thermal printers
  • And other Thermal printers supported with QZ Tray

Cash drawer

Rock POS can work with a cash drawer driven by a receipt printer. The cash drawer is connected with a receipt printer and awaits for the printer command to open. We also can decide when to open the cash drawer: before or after printing a receipt. This can be done via the configuration section of the printer on your PC.

Credit card reader

Rock POS allows you to take payment by many different methods including credit card. At the moment, Rock POS hasn’t worked directly with card reader yet, but rather you can mark your order as paid by credit card by following the guide in this post.

Making Rock POS compatible with a card reader is also our top priority.
